What makes us different?
We are not a wellness vendor or employee health insurance provider. As the state’s most-trusted resource for building evidence-based healthy workplaces, we strive to improve the health and well-being of all Arizona workers by offering employers and employee wellness professionals evidenced based training, tools, and step-by-step resources employers can use to tailor a workplace health program to their unique workplace needs.
Developed by an expert panel of representatives from the federal, state, academic, and private sector, HAWP uses the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Worksite Health Score Card as the foundational resource and framework. Just as our worksites and employee environments continue to evolve over time the scorecard incorporates new data and evidence-based approaches to offer reliable insight into workplace health.
Background & History
Evidence-based healthy worksite initiatives have been shown to reduce costs associated with health care, absenteeism and presenteeism. In addition, they have been linked to increased productivity as healthy employees have been shown to be more productive.
Identified as part of the 2013 Arizona State Health Improvement Plan, workplace health and wellness became a priority for public health officials. The Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health have since managed the program offering all services fully funded to Arizona employers.
Partnerships
HAWP relies on several state-wide partnerships to sustain its fully funded training, technical assistance, tools, and resources offered to Arizona employers. We appreciate each of these partners’ unique expertise and value they provide. Interested in partnering with HAWP? Contact us today.

You’re in Good Company
It seems like a simple concept, but if we can appeal to one person through Financial Wellness, another through Physical Wellness and a third through Emotional Wellness, then overall we will have a healthier and happier workforce, and see the ROI. In 2013, we positively impacted 88% of our workforce through participation in one or more of our wellness offerings.
