Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training

Mental Health First Aid is the help offered to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate treatment and support are received or until the crisis resolves.
Participants will Learn the MHFA Action Plan, including:
- Assess the risk of suicide harm
- Listen nonjudgmentally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional help
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
The training is offered to improve employees’ mental health literacy by helping employees to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness.
This training is recommended for employers and business leaders, state and local policymakers, primary care professionals, school personnel and educators, police and correctional officers, volunteers and employees.
