Finding out you or an employee is diagnosed with cancer can be difficult for anyone. Knowing how to navigate conversations with HR and the employee can be critical to the organization’s continued operations as well as the employee’s health. Many find they can work during cancer treatment, but there are others who find it difficult to continue their employment.
This webinar is an engaging conversation with Laurie Mann, LCSW, Social Worker with the Cancer Center at Dignity Health, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Larita Howard, Human Resources Manager, also Dignity Health as they share best practices for supporting employees undergoing cancer treatment.

Larita Howard, PHR is the Divisional HR Manager for Dignity Health Arizona. She provides direction and support in the areas of employee benefits, employee wellness, global mobility, and HR project management for over 11,000 employees. She brings a broad base of skills in human resources operations, benefit administration, employee engagement, and project management gained through more than 14 years of experience in healthcare.
Larita has a passion for creating a workplace culture that is built upon integrity, collaboration, and development of staff. She is known for her strong advocacy for employees and her ability to implement large scale projects supporting business operations while maintaining strong employee engagement.
Laurie Mann, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Laurie Mann is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who provides individual, group and family therapy to assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent mental health concerns, as well as emotional and behavioral disturbances during health crises. She is the social worker at Dignity Health’s Cancer Center in Phoenix. She enjoys advocating for the wellbeing and overall health of her clients.
